Kips Bay Decorator Show House-Why It Matters

In the October 13, 2010, New York Times article about the Kips Bay Decorator Show Penelope Green wrote, “The Kips Bay show house has always been a certain kind of marketing opportunity for designers — a victory lap that comes with a community responsibility.” Respectfully, the show house matters much more than a “marketing opportunity”.

The real “victory lap” is for the children at the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club that benefit from the proceeds of this annual fund-raiser.The show house is an expression of ingenuity and transformation, just like the children’s experience in the Kips Bay clubhouses.  Designers produce theatrical and ethereal rooms with spectacular wizardry and cunning talent to woo a very sophisticated public into paying an entrance fee to experience design excellence on an international level.  These designers use their own resources and relationships with trusted vendors to showcase solutions and visions.  Each year, the designers selected to participate in the show house offer distinctive remixed interpretations of classic styles, combinations of old-school craftsmanship with nascent technology, synergies in textures and materials, and dazzling displays of color.

The stand out rooms this year is from designers Noel Jeffrey, Vicente Wolf, Jennifer Post, Sherrill Canet, and Coffiner Ku.

Here Noel Jeffrey take a vanilla rectangular room and softens the edges with feathery fabric in the corners for a romantic intimate effect!

Jennifer Post is one of the 100 top Designers as rated by Architectural Digest-Here is why!

Coffinier & Ku Design group presents the warm solution to a cold space through the masterful use of wood materials and form meeting function.
